Wavecom Technologies is a European manufacturer headquartered in Aveiro, Portugal, with 25 years' experience delivering onboard connectivity solutions for public transport. Their Connected Bus platform is already deployed in major fleets across Europe and beyond — including over 750 buses in Lisbon alone — and we're now making the full range available to UK operators.
Why Connected Transport?
The expectations placed on public transport have changed dramatically. Passengers want reliable Wi-Fi during their journey. Operators need real-time visibility across their fleet. What the Wavecom Platform Offers
At the heart of the solution is the WaveOnRoad router — a new-for-2025 gateway built specifically for the transport environment. It's a rugged, fanless unit featuring dual 5G modems capable of download speeds up to 3.4 Gbps, Wi-Fi 6/6E in dual-band/dual-concurrent mode, eSIM technology with up to seven operator profiles, four Gigabit Ethernet ports, and integrated GNSS positioning. It's E-Mark certified, operates on standard vehicle power (9–36 VDC), and supports zero-touch provisioning — meaning units arrive pre-configured and ready to install.
But the hardware is only half the story. Every router connects to Wavecom's IoT Manager — a cloud-based, multi-tenant platform that gives fleet managers a single dashboard for monitoring vehicle positions, managing passenger Wi-Fi services, tracking equipment health, and analysing passenger data. It supports everything from a handful of vehicles to fleets of hundreds, with APIs available for integration with existing operational systems.
For operators wanting to go further, the platform also supports optional passenger counting sensors with over 98% accuracy, origin and destination analytics, and customisable captive portals for passenger engagement and customer satisfaction surveys.

This isn't untested technology. Wavecom's platform is already proven in demanding, large-scale deployments:
